International Championship
Wrestling celebrated their 20th year anniversary
in front of hundreds of fans for the Wyandotte County
Fair.
Rick Steiner
def. Disco Inferno
Who came to see the Disco dance? Apparently not
the fans in Wyandotte County as the crowd erupted
for The Dog Face Gremlin Rick Steiner! Disco gained
immediate heat from the crowd with his arrogant
attitude towards them. He even ripped the photographers
camera out of his hands to take a shot of what he
called the ugliest kid in Kansas City. The multi
time tag champ Steiner had no patience for Discos
antics. Disco made an immediate mistake by trying
to out wrestle the former amateur champion. Rick
Steiner dominated with superior mat and brawling
skills. Disco only needed one opening to blast the
knee of Steiner with a kick. Disco had short control
of Steiner, working over the leg. The Dog- Faced
Gremlin regained control showing why he is a fan
favorite. After a top rope bulldog, Steiner got
the win.
Josey def. Traci Brooks
The crowd was torn between these two lovely ladies.
The two divas started off trading arm bars and hammerlocks.
Josie surprised Traci with her sharp technical wrestling
skills. At a shock to everyone the desperate Traci
Brooks resorted to biting the hand of Josie for
a release of a hold. Despite her television exposure
Traci’s frustration caused her to loose the
respect of the fans. Traci turned the match in her
favor with a devastating back breaker variation.
Brooks took control of Josie with single leg Boston
Crab. Traci got too confident with her abuse to
Josie, as Josie was able to turn the match around
for a pinfall.
Doink the Clown def Mario Valenta
The lovable clown won the crowd over from the start.
The up and comer rule breaker Valenta showed no
respect to the former world traveled icon. Angered
at the crowds reaction to the clown and disdain
towards his own entrance, Mario victimized the clown
by kicking him down in the corner and using blatant
chokes. The clown attempted a quick and clean pin
with a small package but Valenta kicked out on a
two count. Valenta argued with the ref while the
clown took advantage with a schoolboy.
Jimmy Claxton and Brett
Thunder
def.
Austin Rhodes and Spiro
The Texas natives Rhodes and Spiro gained no love
as they bashed the Kansas City crowd and disrespected
their home. The relative of the legendary wrestling
family Rhodes, and his partner Spiro had no dilemma
double-teaming behind the referees back or using
illegal chokes. They took advantage by keeping the
smaller Thunder in their corner and from tagging
in the big man Claxton. Brett Thunder turned things
around with enzuigiri kick to Spiro and made the
tag to Jimmy Claxton. The cowboy Claxton cleaned
house with power moves and made the win for the
team of Jimmy Claxton and Brett Thunder. Austin
Rhodes was the victim of extensive groinal damage.
Hector Navaro
def. Terry Daniels
The young Navaro gave it his all to the veteran
Daniels. Despite youth on his side, the crowd favorite
Navaro learned that experience out ways athleticism
as the veteran had an answer to all of the kid’s
moves. Hector Navaro pulled an upset with a quick
pin.
Tony Vega def. Chris James
The two highfliers started the show pulling no stops.
Vega attempted a springboard lariat but was cut
short with a dropkick to the outside. The crowd
thought the match might have been cut short as the
ref signed to the awaiting paramedics. The injured
Vega gained the respect of the crowd by finishing
the match. James gave Vega a sit-down power bomb
but Vega kicked out. James tried for a second power
bomb and Vega countered with a victory roll.
